For most IT environments a mix of both disk and tape backup is the right solution. It provides the rapid recovery of disk with the long term archival cost efficiencies of tape. This multi-tier backup strategy is referred to as Disk to disk to tape, or D2D. For protection of remote sites some D2D systems can efficiently transmit or replicate data over a network link to a central site.
To meet diverse business requirements, HP provides a number of different solutions for disk-based data protection:
An easy-to-use, affordable, and rugged removable disk backup system for small businesses’ workstations and entry-level servers.
Reliable, automated daily backups of up to six servers in a single, self-managing device with automated movement from disk to tape. Some systems support data deduplication and integrated remote replication features.
